In-product experience research · PUBLIC RESEARCH BRIEF

SprigWhen should an adaptive survey ask one more question?

Sprig describes research agents that design studies, deliver personalized surveys, analyze responses and synthesize findings. Its Field Agent can use participant attributes, behavioral data, product context and metadata to tailor questions and generate contextual follow-ups. Adaptation may add relevance, but it also changes the instrument each participant experiences and therefore needs explicit methodological controls.

CHANGE ONE THING. LEARN WHAT MATTERS.

Three questions for the GTM team.

01

For Sprig, which participant attributes or product events are appropriate inputs to question wording, and which would make a respondent feel watched or create avoidable privacy risk?

02

When an AI follow-up departs from the shared survey path, what rule should limit depth, prevent leading probes and preserve comparability across respondents?

03

Should researchers review every adaptive branch, sample high-risk branches or monitor aggregate exceptions, and what evidence would make that review defensible?

PROPOSED AUDIENCE

Who should weigh in?

North American UX researchers, product researchers, product managers, customer-experience teams, research operations, data governance and privacy reviewers evaluating Sprig. Include people who design studies, configure targeting and consume synthesized findings. Proposed audience only; no Sprig response, session replay, user attribute or customer workspace is included.

TWO TIME HORIZONS

Trial today. A habit tomorrow?

Near term · 0–90 days

Over 0–90 days, run synthetic respondent journeys through fixed and adaptive survey designs containing ambiguous answers, sensitive context and conflicting behavior. Compare relevance, leading-question risk, branch consistency, unsupported inference and reviewer workload.

Longer term · 3–12 months

Over 3–12 months, follow approved survey policies across changing products, segments and research goals. Study instrument drift, uneven treatment, stale attributes, participant fatigue and whether generated themes remain traceable to actual responses.

What would make the result actionable?

Use fictional participant attributes, timestamped product events, scripted responses, versioned prompts, known-risk branches and blinded methodological review. Any claim about completion, response quality or product impact requires consented live studies and an appropriate comparison.

A Gather simulation returns hypothetical customer reactions. Quantifying revenue, traffic or retention needs actual business inputs and validation against observed behavior.
