Restaurant loyalty & digital ordering · PUBLIC RESEARCH BRIEF
ChipotleWhich reward keeps Chipotle useful between orders?
Chipotle's current Rewards page describes earning points, exchanging them for rewards, tracking and redeeming in the app, monthly reward drops and challenges or extras. This brief tests whether progress, choice and challenge framing are clear and fair without claiming order frequency, redemption or revenue effects.

Three questions for the GTM team.
In the Chipotle reward exchange, would a short recommended set or the full eligible catalog help members choose with fewer redemption errors? Use identical rewards and a synthetic point balance.
Set up this study →For a Chipotle challenge, would personalization based on a clearly disclosed synthetic order history or a broadly available challenge feel fairer and more relevant? Do not place an order or grant a reward.

Who should weigh in?
North American adult Chipotle guests across visit frequency, app use and dietary preferences who are active, lapsed or prospective Rewards members. Include digital and in-restaurant ordering familiarity without inferring health outcomes. Proposed audience; no ordering, redemption, retention or revenue outcome is implied.
TWO TIME HORIZONS
Trial today. A habit tomorrow?
Near term · 0–90 days
Over 0–90 days, test clickable progress, exchange and challenge concepts with synthetic histories, point balances and menu states. Measure rule comprehension, perceived fairness, relevance, selection errors and data-use comfort. Do not order food, redeem points or alter a live account.
Longer term · 3–12 months
Over 3–12 months, follow approved cohorts across menu changes and program cycles. Examine offer dependency, challenge fatigue, reward availability, lapse and re-engagement, restaurant-versus-app consistency and complaint themes. Ordering, redemption or retention claims require observed behavior and controls.
What would make the result actionable?
Use fixed menu and reward rules, synthetic accounts and identical point balances across concepts. Disclose that scenarios are hypothetical; include expired, unavailable and no-action cases; adjudicate correct outcomes independently and require human approval before any operational use.
A Gather simulation returns hypothetical customer reactions. Quantifying revenue, traffic or retention needs actual business inputs and validation against observed behavior.
