Enterprise search & AI agents · PUBLIC RESEARCH BRIEF
GleanWhich trust cue helps an employee catch when the “right” answer is stale or shaped by access?
Glean currently describes enterprise search across connected workplace tools with real-time indexing, personalization and enforcement of existing source permissions. It also offers agents that reason and act using enterprise context, with governance and performance monitoring. These controls can support workplace use, but they do not prove that an answer is complete, current or safe to act on.

Three questions for the GTM team.
Before a Glean agent acts across systems, would an evidence-to-action preview or a permission-and-impact checklist better help an approver catch an unsafe step?
Set up this study →When no authoritative document answers a query, would an explicit gap with a suggested subject-matter expert or a best-available answer with caveats better support the next decision?

Who should weigh in?
North American IT, knowledge-management, operations and business teams using or evaluating Glean, including everyday search users, content owners, workspace administrators, agent builders and security reviewers. Recruit participants across role, source access, search frequency and decision responsibility. Proposed audience; no private document, query, connector token, company directory or employee identity is included.
TWO TIME HORIZONS
Trial today. A habit tomorrow?
Near term · 0–90 days
Over 0–90 days, test a synthetic workplace with documents, messages, tickets, permissions and agent tasks containing stale guidance, hidden sources, duplicate content and ambiguous ownership. Measure missing-context detection, source verification, permission judgment, escalation choice and time to a defensible next step. Connect no production system.
Longer term · 3–12 months
Over 3–12 months, follow consenting teams in sandbox or de-identified workflows as sources, permissions, agent libraries and ownership change. Examine search trust, repeated gaps, unsafe action attempts, content-maintenance burden and reliance on named experts. Business impact requires observed work outcomes.
What would make the result actionable?
Use versioned Glean product materials, synthetic connectors, explicit permission matrices, controlled stale documents, hidden answer keys and task logs. Score retrieval coverage, source judgment and action safety separately, include unanswerable queries, preserve original fixtures and use no private customer or employee data.
A Gather simulation returns hypothetical customer reactions. Quantifying revenue, traffic or retention needs actual business inputs and validation against observed behavior.
