Product strategy and roadmapping · PUBLIC RESEARCH BRIEF
Aha!How should idea value stay connected to product strategy?
Aha! Roadmaps describes a product management system for strategy, idea capture, feature prioritization, release planning and roadmaps. Its ideas portals can collect and rank requests, while goals, scoring metrics and product-value views connect planned work to strategy. A configurable system can make decisions visible, but teams still need rules for resolving popular ideas that do not fit current goals.

Three questions for the GTM team.
Which scoring criteria should be standardized across products, and which may vary, so portfolio comparisons remain useful without hiding differences in market, risk and capacity?
Set up this study →How should a team explain the status of an idea to submitters when it has customer value but is not planned because of dependency, compliance or strategic constraints?

Who should weigh in?
North American product executives, product managers, product operations, portfolio leaders, UX researchers, engineering leaders, customer-success teams and strategy stakeholders evaluating Aha! Roadmaps. Include people who configure scoring, govern idea portals and approve releases. Proposed audience only; no Aha! workspace, portal submission, score or customer record is included.
TWO TIME HORIZONS
Trial today. A habit tomorrow?
Near term · 0–90 days
Over 0–90 days, ask portfolio and product teams to score fictional ideas with conflicting vote counts, strategic fit, estimates, dependencies and product value. Compare ranking stability, exception handling, rationale quality and customer-facing status decisions.
Longer term · 3–12 months
Over 3–12 months, repeat the exercise as goals, capacity and evidence change. Study scoring drift, portfolio inconsistency, stale portal expectations and whether promoted ideas deliver the intended product outcome.
What would make the result actionable?
Use synthetic ideas with controlled vote patterns, explicit goals, known dependencies and seeded estimate uncertainty. Audit configuration and decision history; validate product-value claims with observed usage, customer research and post-release outcome measures.
A Gather simulation returns hypothetical customer reactions. Quantifying revenue, traffic or retention needs actual business inputs and validation against observed behavior.
