Electronic signature & agreement workflows · PUBLIC RESEARCH BRIEF
DocusignWhich Docusign workflow reduces uncertainty before an agreement is sent?
Docusign's current eSignature pages describe reusable templates, document generation, web forms, multi-channel delivery, recipient routing and administrative controls. This brief studies how authorized senders prepare and review an agreement workflow. It does not assess legal validity, completion rates or contract outcomes.

Three questions for the GTM team.
When creating a reusable Docusign template, would a guided role-and-field checklist or a flexible canvas better help owners produce a complete setup? Use a synthetic agreement with seeded omissions.
Set up this study →For an agreement that cannot advance, would an exception-focused status view or the full activity timeline better help an authorized operator choose the correct next step? Use seeded sandbox states and no real signer data.

Who should weigh in?
North American organizations using or evaluating Docusign eSignature. Include sales and people operations, procurement, legal operations, template owners, support teams and authorized administrators. Use fictional agreements and recipients; exclude legal advice and real signatures. Proposed audience; no speed, completion or compliance outcome is implied.
TWO TIME HORIZONS
Trial today. A habit tomorrow?
Near term · 0–90 days
Over 0–90 days, test routing review, template setup and exception-resolution prototypes with fictional agreements, recipients and audit events. Measure role-order errors, missing required fields, mistaken status interpretations and review time. Do not send envelopes, collect signatures or provide legal guidance.
Longer term · 3–12 months
Over 3–12 months, follow approved teams through template revisions, workflow handoffs and administrator changes. Examine template drift, routing consistency, exception ownership, signer-support handoffs and governance comprehension. Completion, legal, compliance or revenue claims require observed production records and controls.
What would make the result actionable?
Use versioned workflow requirements, synthetic documents and recipients, seeded role, field and status errors and known-correct resolutions. Randomize presentation while holding workflow state constant; keep all sends disabled; verify audit events; require legal, privacy, security and accessibility review before live use.
A Gather simulation returns hypothetical customer reactions. Quantifying revenue, traffic or retention needs actual business inputs and validation against observed behavior.
