Product management and roadmapping · PUBLIC RESEARCH BRIEF

ProductboardWhat evidence should move customer feedback onto the roadmap?

Productboard describes a platform for understanding customer needs, prioritizing product investments and aligning teams around roadmaps. It supports segmented feedback trends, customer views, validation through a feedback portal, prioritized backlogs and customer-facing updates. Those capabilities can organize evidence, but they do not by themselves establish which request represents a broad need or the best use of capacity.

CHANGE ONE THING. LEARN WHAT MATTERS.

Three questions for the GTM team.

01

For Productboard, what combination of linked feedback, affected segment, strategic objective, expected user outcome and delivery constraint should move a feature from insight to roadmap consideration?

02

When portal votes, VIP-customer requests and broader segmented trends point in different directions, what evidence should decide whether the team validates, prioritizes or declines the idea?

03

What roadmap detail should be shared with customers and GTM teams so expectations are useful without turning an exploratory priority into a delivery commitment?

PROPOSED AUDIENCE

Who should weigh in?

North American product leaders, product managers, product operations teams, UX researchers, customer-success leaders, sales leaders and engineering partners evaluating Productboard. Include people who contribute feedback, set portfolio priorities and communicate roadmap decisions. Proposed audience only; no Productboard workspace, customer record, note, roadmap or feature request is included.

TWO TIME HORIZONS

Trial today. A habit tomorrow?

Near term · 0–90 days

Over 0–90 days, give cross-functional teams fictional feature candidates with uneven feedback volume, duplicate notes, concentrated enterprise demand, conflicting objectives and uncertain effort. Compare prioritization, requests for validation, evidence traceability and roadmap communication.

Longer term · 3–12 months

Over 3–12 months, follow selected and rejected candidates through simulated discovery, delivery and customer updates. Study whether decision criteria remain consistent, whether portal activity skews priorities and whether closed-loop communication improves trust without creating false commitments.

What would make the result actionable?

Use synthetic feedback with known duplication, segment mix, strategic fit, effort and outcome evidence. Blind reviewers to brand and requester seniority, preserve source links, and validate any claim about adoption, retention or revenue with live behavioral and business data.

A Gather simulation returns hypothetical customer reactions. Quantifying revenue, traffic or retention needs actual business inputs and validation against observed behavior.
