Business AI workspace · PUBLIC RESEARCH BRIEF
ChatGPT BusinessWhich company-knowledge cue helps an employee separate an internal answer from a general model response?
OpenAI currently lists company knowledge, shared Projects, workspace agents and apps connected to internal tools among ChatGPT Business features. Its enterprise privacy commitments state that business data is not used to train models by default and that organizations control connected internal sources. These capabilities can support governed use, but they do not prove that a user understands which sources informed an answer.

Three questions for the GTM team.
Before enabling an app that connects to an internal tool, would a data-flow preview or a role-based use-case checklist better help an administrator spot an unsafe configuration?
Set up this study →When a shared Project contains old and new guidance, would a freshness warning or a conflict summary better help a team resolve the answer before acting?

Who should weigh in?
North American business, IT, operations, product and security teams using or evaluating ChatGPT Business, including everyday knowledge workers, workspace owners, app administrators and governance reviewers. Recruit participants across function, permission level and AI experience. Proposed audience; no private chat, company source, app token, workspace configuration or employee identity is included.
TWO TIME HORIZONS
Trial today. A habit tomorrow?
Near term · 0–90 days
Over 0–90 days, test synthetic workspaces, Projects, internal-source snippets, app permissions and prompts with seeded stale guidance, missing access and conflicting facts. Measure source recognition, permission decisions, verification behavior, escalation quality and time to a defensible answer. Connect no production source.
Longer term · 3–12 months
Over 3–12 months, follow consenting teams in sandbox or de-identified workflows as apps, Projects and policies change. Examine governed adoption, stale-context recurrence, source verification, duplicated work and administrator burden. Business impact requires observed workflow outcomes.
What would make the result actionable?
Use versioned official OpenAI materials, synthetic company documents, expected-access matrices, controlled conflicts, freshness labels and task logs. Verify answer usefulness, source attribution and permission judgment separately, include unsupported questions, retain original fixtures and use no private customer or employee data.
A Gather simulation returns hypothetical customer reactions. Quantifying revenue, traffic or retention needs actual business inputs and validation against observed behavior.
